The American soprano will be Marguerite in Charles Gounod’s Faust from June 28th to July 13rd
Born in California, Angel Blue studied music at UCLA. She opened the 2019-2020 season of the Metropolitan Opera in New York as Bess in Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. She also opened the 2021-2022 season there as Destiny / Solitude / Greta in Terence Blanchard’s Fire Shut Up In My Bones, the first Metropolitan Opera production by a black composer.
During the 2021-2022 season, she performs on major international opera and concert stages in a variety of repertoire. Following her return to the Metropolitan Opera with back-to-back productions, she is Violetta Valéry in La Traviata at the Royal Opera House in London and at the Arena in Verona and Mimi in La Bohème at the National theater in Munich.
Angel Blue received the Metropolitan Opera Beverly Hills Award in 2020 and the Richard Tucker Foundation Award in 2022.
