Antonín Dvořák’s cello concerto was the composer’s last solo concerto. This passionate work is often regarded as one of the most beautiful concerti of all time. This Sunday (May 23rd) Alban Gerhardt will perform the work at London’s Royal Festival Hall with the Philharmonia under the baton of Esa Pekka-Salonen, marking his 20th anniversary of performing this piece. We met Alban in Berlin where he gave us an insight into this fascinating work and told us what makes it so special.
