Tomorrow evening the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra begin a five-date tour of Heerlen, Leverkusen, Bruges, Rotterdam and Ludwigsburg with their Principal Conductor, Jonathan Nott.
The programme of the concerts in Heerlen, Bruges, Rotterdam and Ludwigsburg includes Richard Strauss’s Metamorphosen and Anton Bruckner’s Seventh Symphony in E Major. In Leverkusen the programme will see Strauss’s Metamorphosen replaced with Franz Liszt’s Danse Macabre for piano and orchestra as well as Ligeti’s Melodies for orchestra. Joining the orchestra for the Liszt is the outstanding young pianist, Alexander Krichel.
The Bamberg Symphony, which was founded in 1946, has always been known for its extensive international touring and has given more than 6,500 concerts in 60 countries and over 500 cities as Cultural Ambassador for Bavaria.
