Emily Howard
Leading British composer Emily Howard first came to public attention with her 2008 composition Magnetite. Since then she has gone on to great critical acclaim, being marked ‘One to Watch’ by The Observer and commissioned by Wien Modern and the London Symphony Orchestra. Howard studied Mathematics and Computation at Oxford University and often draws on science as her inspiration. 2012 marked an important season for Emily with her mini-opera Zátopek!, commissioned by New Music 20×12 for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, being performed in Liverpool and at the Southbank Centre and with her composition Calculus of the Nervous System being part of the 2012 BBC Proms.
