Gediminas Gelgotas

Composer Gediminas Gelgotas embodies a unique musical language built upon modern, multi-stylistic influences. An alumni of the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art Lithuania, and Hochschule for Music and Theatre in Hamburg, Gelgotas majored in composition and orchestral conducting, as well as the piano and trumpet. Adopting a traditional work ethic, Gelgotas proudly works with pen and paper across all his compositions. He grows, chases and explores an organic idea when it comes to mind and injects his own unique blend of pop and classical cultures. With many of his pieces already performed at a number of prestigious events, Gelgotas’ work defies all genres and makes it accessible to a wide audience. His piece Sanctifaction for double bass and piano shows his talent to put “background” instruments into focus. 2018 saw the premiere of his violin concerto No. 1 with conductor Kristian Järvi at Kissinger Sommer festival.
