Georgisches Kammerorchester Ingolstadt
OrchestraThe Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt has a unique profile in Germany. As a former orchestra-in-exile, it has retained its Eastern European character to this day and is, at the same time, an ensemble deeply rooted in Ingolstadt that enjoys recognition far beyond Bavaria’s borders. With its regional concert series, international guest performances and numerous children’s and youth projects, the GKO Ingolstadt maintains consistently high subscription rates and has earned an excellent reputation.
The ensemble was founded in 1964 in Tbilisi, Georgia as the Georgian State Chamber Orchestra. In 2014 it celebrated its fiftieth anniversary and after twenty-six years based in the Georgian capital Tbilisi, the orchestra moved to Ingolstadt in 1990, where it has found its second home. With the support of the City of Ingolstadt, AUDI AG and the Sparkasse Ingolstadt, the GKO has become a fixture in cultural life, both locally and further afield.
Despite major changes in the last fifty years, the orchestra is characterised by artistic continuity. For the season of 2021, Ariel Zuckermann will return as artistic director – a familiar face to Ingolstadt residents since he already led the GKO Ingolstadt between 2006 and 2011.
WildKat PR, in cooperation with Anja Rauschardt, supports the GKO Ingolstadt in press and public relations.
