Hansjörg Albrecht
ConductorThe German conductor and organist Hansjörg Albrecht is one of the few artists who is regularly present internationally as both a conductor and as a concert organist. Currently, he is artistic director of the Munich Bach Choir & Bach Orchestra, and he has longstanding collaborations with the San Carlo Opera House Naples, the Chamber Orchestra Moscow and the Staatskapelle Weimar.
To mark the composer Bruckner’s 200th anniversary year in 2024, Hansjörg Albrecht has unveiled a 10-CD anthology of the composer’s symphonies, transcribed for organ. The recordings will be made on spectacular organs around Europe, from Vienna to Paris to Leipzig.
The transcriptions, entitled “Bruckner windows”, are commissions for contemporary composers who have an affinity for Bruckner’s work. This includes David Matthews, who transcribed the latest recording of the 2nd Symphony and recorded it on the organ of Westminster Cathedral. Albrecht is passionate about preserving Bruckner’s status as the master of the organ, and also is keen for contemporary composers to push the boundaries of the ‘King of Instruments’ and break with the organ tradition to offer a new range of musical expression.
We are delighted to be working with Hansjörg Albrecht for a PR campaign in Germany, with support in UK, US and France.
