Maria Camahort

Guitarist and Composer

Recipient of the prestigious Guildhall Artist Fellowship 2010-2012, Maria Camahort is a guitarist in demand internationally. Maria has performed in many cities in Europe, and has taken part in festivals including the Barcelona Guitar Festival, City of London Festival, International Conservatoire Week Festival, Bath Guitar Festival, London Guitar Festival, Kings Place Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival amongst others.

Specialising in chamber music, Maria is the artistic director of her own ensemble, The Maria Camahort Quintet, which comprises four other talented musicians: Violeta García, voice and violin; Laura Ruhí-Vidal, soprano; Sergio Serra, cello; Pablo Domínguez, percussion and guitar. Together, with Maria playing the guitar, they are releasing their debut album in 2015, for which Maria has also arranged most of the pieces. The album, ‘Iberian Colours,’ will feature works from Spanish composers inspired by traditional music and will be a musical celebration of the vibrancy of Spain: bright colours, earthy textures and foot-tapping rhythms. All members of the Quintet are Spanish, and they bring an authenticity to the album that makes it both fresh and exciting.
