Markus Fleischer

Guitarist and Composer

German guitarist and composer Markus Fleischer studied jazz at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. He continued with a postgraduate in contemporary improvisation and composition techniques as well as intensively studying classical and South Indian music.

After his studies, he returned to Germany and was a member of various ensembles and duo projects, with which he released multiple albums and toured internationally with drummers such as Keith Copeland, Adam Nussbaum, guitarist John Stowell and keyboarder Jasper van’t Hof.

In recent years, Markus Fleischer has particularly been involved with crossover projects such as the Freiraum Syndikat and contemporary composer Moritz Eggert. Current projects of the versatile and committed musician include the Gravity Blues Project, the Duo City Zapping, the Guitar Trio Höhn – Stowell – Fleischer and the Fleischer Magnússon Duo with pianist Agnar Már Magnússon.

The collaboration with the Icelandic pianist resulted in Fleischer’s latest album “Schimmer”. On this CD, the two sensitive and expressive musicians combine elements of jazz and improvisation with classical music. WildKat supports the album release with a 4-month press campaign.
