Multi-award winning Icelandic composer Daníel Bjarnason releases his second solo album Over Light Earth today. Daníel sets his album apart from other classical music recordings through an innovative recording process with Valgeir Sigurosson from the celebrated Icelandic record Label Bedroom Community. Over Light Earth‘s title track was commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic who have championed Daníel’s work and will be premiering a new commission on December 19th, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.
Daníel has worked with a broad range of musicians including composer Ben Frost. The two collaborated on 2011 album Solaris and Daníel has arranged parts of Frost’s opera of the Iain Banks’ novel The Wasp Factory which premieres at the Royal Opera House this week.
