Daniel Hope masterclass featured on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune

Yesterday violinist Daniel Hope appeared as a guest on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune where he gave a masterclass as part of their Baroque Spring season. On the programme he compares the sounds produced by different violins (Stradivari and Guarneri) century, differences between Baroque and modern instruments, and the role of violins in Baroque music. His masterclass is the first of a series of five that are to be broadcast, including classes given by English trumpeter Alison Balsom  and harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani both of whom will explore the playing of Baroque music on period instruments.

Other upcoming highlights of the Baroque Spring season include actor Dominic West reading Baroque poetry and performance of Bach’s 48 preludes and fugues on the Breakfast show.
