This Sunday, Gabriella Swallow will join violinist Nigel Kennedy at the closing concert of the Bethlehem Unwrapped festival at St James’s Church Piccadilly.
Bethlehem Unwrapped goes behind the romanticised Christmas card image of the ancient city of Bethlehem to show what life is like for the city’s people today. Gabriella will join Nigel Kennedy’s quintet to perform the violinist’s own composition ‘The Bridge’, with Tom Eisner (violin), Yaron Stavi (bass), Doug Boyle (guitar) plus Palestinian singer Reem Kelani, actor Adjoa Andoh, singers from the Tallis Scholars and guest speaker Yasmin Alibhai-Brown.
Also in the courtyard at St James’s Church is the WALL installation – a life size replica of the 8-metre-high Separation Wall that surrounds Bethlehem. Visitors are welcome to write a thought, reflection or prayer on the Wall itself.
