BACKHal Leonard Europe appoints advisory group for equality, diversity and inclusion
Music publisher Hal Leonard Europe (HLE) has announced the appointment of an external advisory group to work on initiatives around equality, diversity and inclusion.
Scheduled to meet at least twice a year, the group of individuals with expertise in social justice activism, music creation, music education and the music industry will assist HLE in its vision of ‘Lifelong Music-Making for Everyone’.
The group includes Dr. Joanna Abeyie MBE, Naveen Arles BCA FRSA, Dr Diljeet Kaur Bhachu, Nathan Holder, Miss Jacqui, Paulette Long OBE, Vanessa Maria, Sharon Jagdev Powell, John Shortell, and Linton Stephens.

Kreativschaffende, die in der Künstlersozialkasse (KSK) versichert sind, müssen laut geltender Regelungen mindestens 51% ihres Einkommens durch künstlerische oder publizistische Tätigkeit erwirtschaften. Zudem dürfen KSK-Versicherte nur geringfügig, also auf 450-Euro-Basis, aus nichtkünstlerischer Tätigkeit dazu verdienen.
Dies führt aktuell dazu, dass zahlreiche Versicherte, die aufgrund der Corona-Maßnahmen temporär in nichtkünstlerischen Arbeitsbereichen ihren Lebensunterhalt verdienen, von einem Ausschluss aus der KSK bedroht sind.

According to the current regulations, creative workers who are insured in the Artists Social Insurance Fund (KSK) must earn at least 51% of their income from artistic or journalistic activities. In addition, those insured under the KSK are only allowed to earn marginal income, i.e. on a 450-euro basis, from non-artistic activities.
This currently means that numerous insured persons who temporarily earn their living in non-artistic fields of work due to the Corona measures are threatened with exclusion from the KSK.
