WildKat PR are excited to announce a new ACCENTUS Music release of a performance by Martha Argerich, Mischa Maisky and the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra!
Coinciding with renowned pianist Martha Argerich’s 70th birthday on 5th June 2011, ACCENTUS Music has produced a new DVD and Blu-ray recording of her performing live at the Concert Hall of KKL Luzern, in co-production with Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and SRF Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen. In this exciting concert, which took place February 2011, Martha Argerich performs with world-famous cellist Mischa Maisky and the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Neeme Järvi.
The concert programme contains a world premiere performance of a newly commissioned work by Russian composer Rodion Shchedrin: his “Romantic Offering” is a double concerto for piano, cello and orchestra. This striking world premiere performance is complemented by a selection of late-Romantic masterpieces: César Franck’s Sonata in A major for Cello and Piano, Antonín Dvořák’s Scherzo capriccioso in D flat major, Op. 66 and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9 in E flat major, Op. 70.
This ACCENTUS Music release captures the sense of anticipation and excitement surrounding the world premiere, led by the internationally-renowned performers to whom the work is dedicated. The additional bonus material on the DVD and Blu-ray edition offers a rare behind the scenes glimpse into the preparations of a world premiere, featuring the composer Rodion Shchedrin, pianist Martha Argerich and cellist Mischa Maisky.
