With her bold brush, the German-Chilean soprano, accompanied by pianist Mario Häring, draws a kaleidoscope of female images from 1900 to 2020

Trained at the University of Hanover, Josefine Göhmann completed her opera singing studies at the Studio of the Opéra National de Lyon. The soprano’s repertoire ranges from the classical period to contemporary creation.

Her first CD, “reBelles! Portraits Lyriques”, will be released today by Solo Musica and the prestigious Deutschlandfunk radio is co-producing the recording project. The album’s programme focuses on female images and stereotypes from our socio-cultural heritage. As an eclectic artist, Josefine Göhmann revisits some famous arias from the opera repertoire while introducing us to contemporary talents: Alexander Wagendristel but also Feliz Anne Reyes Macahis and Aya Yoshida (a cappella premieres of these two young female composers).

In this musical but aesthetic project, the soprano composes tableaux by singing four women: the virgin, the mermaid, the heroine and Ophelia. For this album, she called on her long-time accomplice, the brilliant pianist Mario Häring, winner of the 2018 Leeds Competition. Together, they sketch a kaleidoscope of female portraits, in a total art approach where music and aesthetics unite to better vibrate.
