“We started to speculate about how Schubert would have composed his Moments Musicaux for the guitar and realized that it was not possible to reach the original polyphony and harmonies on one guitar, but that it was: on two.” – Duo Morat Fergo
When talking about Schubert, you rarely associate him with guitars, when in fact it is well documented, that he owned and played the instrument for many decades. So it seems just natural that somebody would pick up on that lead and follow it. But interestingly the Duo Morat-Fergo are one of the first to actually transcribe Schubert for guitar, stage and perform it on the highest level.
And what they have achieved is something extraordinary. Playing together since 2014, the Swiss-Danish Duo have created a repertoire that spans the entire era of the Vienna romanticism.
Receiving great reviews, one that stands out is from the Grand Dame of Piano Elisabeth Leonskaja, who said: ‘Recently I experienced a magical moment of music. Two fine musicians – Christian Fergo and Raoul Morat – played Schubert on two guitars. I felt transformed back to the time of Schubert and thought I heard pianos from his Epoche. A moment full of magic sounds.’
Christian Fergo and Raoul Morat have performed as duo and soloists in many countries across Europe including Norway, Finland, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Ireland and China. The duo’s own arrangement of Schubert’s monumental lieder cycle ‘Winterreise’ for voice and guitar duo was premiered with German tenor Julian Pregardien to great acclaim in February 2016.

Wildkat will be working with the Duo on the release of their new CD “A sentimental Moment”, which is a recording that shows just how far you can work to the core of Schubert with 2 guitars.
