Whitgift School launch International Music Competition

Thursday 29th November 2012

Today, Whitgift School is proud to announce the launch of their International Music Competition. The competition is open to string players only, with three age categories: 12-13, 14-15, 16-17. The three winners will be presented with the opportunity to study on a music scholarship at the school of up to £150, 000, and the chance to perform with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. With the opening of a new boarding house in 2013, Whitgift School welcomes international students the opportunity to study at one of the UK’s finest schools.

To apply, musicians are required to submit a YouTube video of themselves performing a piece of their choice, accompanied by brief notes. The winners will be selected by a jury of professional musicians and prominent figures in the classical music industry, after a series of live performances of a study, a classical sonata and a virtuoso piece.

Whitgift School is one of the UK’s leading academic, sporting and artistic schools in the UK, and their International Music Competition welcomes gifted young musicians to learn from, and perform with professional musicians, and make use of the outstanding facilities.
