2018 has been yet another fantastic year for us – we’ve welcomed some fantastic new clients and new people to our team, expanded our services and achieved some great results along the way.

We don’t like to “humblebrag”, but ’tis the season! So here are a few of our highlights from the last year, and things we’re most proud of:

• Our founder, Kat Alder, was shortlisted for the Arts and Culture category in the Women of the Future Awards
• Naomi Belshaw joined the team in May, taking up a newly created role as Composer Relations and PR Executive and bringing expert knowledge in the fields of copyright, music royalties, funding and publishing, accumulated from over ten years’ experience of working at PRS for Music, MCPS and PRS Foundation
• With Naomi’s expertise, we began providing tailored composer consultancy sessions on all things from kick-starting careers to funding and royalties
• Kat launched her very own podcast, Perfect Pitch, inviting music industry professionals and other exciting guests to talk about the industry and their journeys and experiences so far
• Ben Corrigan was announced as the winner of the 2017/18 Noted Fellowship with his podcast ‘excuse the mess‘. Each episode, Ben invites a different composer for a chat about all things musical and otherwise before composing a piece on the spot using only one instrument of the composer’s choosing
• We launched a new series of Noted Roundtables taking place in March, exploring how to diversify the administrative structure of the classical music industry

We’ve also had an immensely successful year for so many of our fantastic clients. There are too many individual moments that we’re proud of to list, but these are some of our highlights:

• Five of our clients were featured on Monocle Radio this year – our biggest number yet (and also Kat’s favourite magazine radio!)
• Composer Keith Burstein was featured on Sky News, Monocle Radio, Russia Today and London Live ahead of the premiere of his opera, The Prometheus Revolution, at the Arcola Theatre in August as part of Grimeborn
• Composer and turntablist Shiva Feshareki was interviewed by FACT Magazine for Spitalfields Music. This campaign also achieved 7 interviews across BBC Radio 3 and BBC 6 Music
• We celebrated the Music for Youth Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in November. 3 days of inspiring and moving performances from young people of all ages and backgrounds – a concert highlight for the whole team!
• Tête à Tête coverage peaked again this year, with features in national press and non-classical publications, including the Guardian (twice!), the Independent (twice again!), i news, DIVA Magazine and  Wire
• Record label Accentus Music received an astounding 12 nominations for the International Classical Music Awards 2019

2018 – Das Jahr der vielen Erfolge und ein großer Verlust am Ende

2018 wird für mich als Geschäftsführerin immer mit einem lachenden und einem weinenden Auge in Erinnerung bleiben.

Intern hat sich bei uns viel getan:

• Seit February 2018 ist Lina Lustig bei uns Account Manager und bringt, wie der Name schon sagt, viel Freude in unsere Bürokultur.
• Wir hatten das erste ‘staff perk’ Sabbatical in der Agentur, unsere Carolin verschlug es nach Neuseeland und wir waren per picture diary natürlich ganz mit dabei.
• Laure hat ihr erstes Kind bekommen und wir freuen uns immer wieder über wunderschöne Bilder und kleine Updates über die wachsende, bezaubernde Louise.
• Leider verlässt uns zum Jahresende unsere erste deutsche, tolle Angestellte Carolin Denz, die seit 2012 das deutsche Büro mit mir aufgebaut und geleitet hat. Wir wünschen Carolin ganz viel Gesundheit und Freude aber vor allem viel Spaß in ihrer neuen Rolle.

Für unsere Langzeitkunden haben und hatten wir super Projekte in diesem Jahr:

• Die Bamberger Symphoniker erhielten fantastische Presseberichte mit ihrem neuen Chefdirigenten Jakub Hrůša, zuletzt in Großbritannien auf BBC Radio 3 Music Matters, Kritiken in allen großen Tageszeitungen wie SZ, FAZ, The Times und mehr.
• Moritz Eggert gibt immer noch super Interviews https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afV3A7Kcmls und in 2019 kommt die Premiere von M – Eine Stadt sucht einen Mörder an die Komische Oper Berlin. Wir freuen uns schon sehr.
• Accentus Music gewinnt so viele Preise mit ihren Produktionen, wir kommen mit der Gratulation nicht hinterher. Go team Smaczny!
• Unser Neukunde das Koreanisches Kulturzentrum Berlin war auf der Frontpage des Feuilletons in der Berliner Zeitung! Es hört nicht auf..
  Yury Kunets wurde gerade auf die Weihnachtsplaylist von Apple Music gesetzt – für einen neuen Komponisten ein rießen Erfolg (814% Steigerung der Streams in der letzten Woche)
• Die neue CD des Duos Morat Fergo ist unter den Weihnachtsempfehlungen 2018 des Tagesspiegels (So schön kann Schubert sein..)
• Classical: Next ist seit Dezember unser Kunde und wir freuen uns auch hier auf eine super Zusammenarbeit.

2019 bringt gleich im Januar viele neue Veränderungen:

Claudia Clarkson fängt in einer neuen Position an, außerdem zieht unser Berliner Team in ein größeres Büro in Friedrichshain um unserer steten Expansion mehr Platz zu machen.

Ich wünsche allen von Herzen besinnliche und schöne Feiertage und freue mich schon sehr auf das neue Jahr!
