WildKat PR is delighted to welcome one of the UK’s leading trumpet players and composers Paul Higgs to our client roster.
Paul has had an extensive musical career in many fields including performing, composing and arranging music for film, TV and theatre. His experience has also been prolific, and he is sought after as a versatile composer and performer in the varied world of theatre, film, TV, gigs and concerts. He was a Musical Director for many years for the National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company.
As a performer he is able to blend the traditions of classical and jazz, and possesses the rare ability to capture the most elusive of dreams in his music, expressing subtle emotions and bold exciting energy with equal ease. Melodies soar and float, while rich harmonies create shadows and depths beneath. His rich imagination allows him to place himself anywhere on the musical spectrum to create the right mood – tense danger, dreamy romance, or futuristic funk. Paul’s understanding of musical genres and composition, coupled with his exceptional skills as a performer leaves him very much in demand.
He has performed with luminaries including Sir Peter Maxwell Davis, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Lulu, and John Williams. Paul has also performed in major concert venues around the world, such as the Royal Festival Hall, the Schubert Theatre (USA), Berlin Concert Hall, the Royal Albert Hall and Ronnie Scott’s.
Paul is currently promoting his new album Pavane which presents pieces in song form in a classical style with an emphasis on melody and counterpoint. The aim behind the creation of the album was to make “an album that combines the freedom of jazz with the rich sonorities of classical music”. In Pavane he presents an infinitely varied world expressed through melody, atmosphere and sensitivity. Each piece shows us a new soundscape, and the exquisite sound of his trumpet transports us through each one in turn, with a variety of feelings throughout the disc from the romantic grandeur of a film score to music perfect for dance.
Paul Higgs has been described as “…a world-class composer and trumpet player…” by Digby Fairweather: BBC presenter (Radio 2 and 3), and jazz trumpeter. With much experience and multifaceted success behind him, Paul seems to continuously demonstrate his musical creativity and talent in many areas.
