WildKat is delighted to welcome back the Gstaad Menuhin Festival in their 64th Year!

Founded in 1957 by Yehudi Menuhin, the Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy takes place annually with an impressive feat of around 50 concerts in churches, mountain stations, glaciers, airfield hangars and the famous festival tent. The Menuhin Festival has grown substantially over the years, now with the Gstaad Festival Orchestra and Gstaad Academy for young professionals, and the 2014 launch of the Gstaad Conducting Academy. With extensive masterclasses and a plethora of internationally renowned soloists, chamber musicians and conductors, 2020 will be another outstanding year in the festival’s history.

This will be our 7th year working with Gstaad Menuhin Festival as we secure the attendance of UK journalists at this year’s festival.

This year, Vienna has been made Gstaads theme, accrediting the Austrian Capital as an epicentre of classical music: Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert all flourished in the city. In an offering towards Beethoven’s 250th birthday celebrations, the festival will present over 20 concerts either partly or entirely dedicated to the composer: pianist Mitsuko Uchida will present the ‘Diabelli Variations’, violinist Renaud Capuçon will play Beethoven’s Romances and tenor Jonas Kaufmann will star in ‘Fidelio’ under the conductorship of Jaap van Zweden and with the Gstaad Festival Orchestra.

In the Gstaad Festival Tent, pianist Seong-Jin Cho will delight audiences with his interpretation of Rachmaninoff’s ‘Piano Concerto No. 2’, whilst on another evening Christophe Rousset will present Mozart’s exhilarating opera ‘The Magic Flute’ accompanied by Les Talens Lyriques. Taking a more unorthodox slant, breakdance will cross with extracts from the works of Mozart, in a move by DDC Dance Floor Destruction Crew. Artist-in-Residence of the festival, clarinettist Andreas Ottensamer, will conjure highly memorable music-making alongside cellist Sol Gabetta and violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja amid others.
